This week we are talking about how we can avoid a panic attacks. Panic attacks are a very real and often a very scary experience! Panic disorder is developed when an individual continually interprets their body sensations to be dangerous, sometimes resulting in a belief that their very life is at risk. If this happens to you, it is important to know that there are effective ways to cope with these distressing feelings. Today, I am going to share several ways you can better cope with panic attacks when they come on.
In life, we all experience emotional hurt, pain, and distress. Sometimes these experiences come unexpectedly and can be very overwhelming. When people experience these things in their lives, it is natural to want to stop the discomfort and pain. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to do this, so we are required to draw upon our coping skills, some of which may not be very healthy or successful. Today, it is my goal to discuss ways you can learn ways to tolerate these unwanted or unpleasant emotions
Today, we continue this week's blog with some additional ways to teach and foster resiliency: Take Steps To Solve Problems
If you are in a crisis and only wait for a problem to go away on it's own, it only prolongs things. Even if there isn't a fast or easy fix to a problem, begin working on taking small steps to solve the problem immediately. This will reduce the amount of stress you feel by not procrastinating. It also allows you to focus more on the successes you create by taking small steps to solve the problem and helps to avoid feeling discouragement.
Keep Working On Your Skills
Don't become discouraged if you still struggle with coping with problematic events-- after all, resilience takes time to build. The good news in this? Psychological resilience can vary from one person to the next, and doesn't involve any particular skill set or specific behaviors or actions. It can be learned by anyone! Get creative in finding your own ways to work on resilience and finding your own healthy coping mechanisms. You can begin by focusing on some of the more common characteristics of resilient people discussed in this blog, or ask others what they do to help them in this area. Work on building upon your existing strengths.
