Lessons From Veterans - Preparedness

As we honor Veterans this week, we continue to highlight characteristics and qualities we've learned from them that we can put to great use in our own lives. Yesterday we highlighted Strength. We will add to each characteristic as the week progresses. Always Prepared

Our Veterans are always prepared to protect, defend, encourage, and go at a moments notice. Merriam-Webster's Dictionary defines "prepared" as:

  • to make ready beforehand for some purpose
  • to put in a proper state of mind
  • to plan in advance
  • to put together
  • to get ready

While our Veterans are generally preparing for battle or war times, we can apply this useful quality to our lives as well. It could be starting our day with a routine that puts us emotionally and spiritually in a frame of mind that allows us to be prepared to face whatever may come our way.

It could be getting more organized on the weekends with meal planning so that during the week dinner time is more relaxed, efficient and doesn't consist of so much fast food.

Being prepared may also look like setting up a savings account to save for an emergency fund or to save for large, non-essential purchases such as vacations, TV's, etc...

Imagine Hope is thankful to every Veteran who has served & fought for our freedom. We are also grateful to those currently serving. May God continue to bless and protect you and your families.
