Most of us probably don't think of ourselves as being a "gift". In fact, many of us are probably in search of changing many things about ourselves - our inadequacies, bad habits, poor communication tactics, and on and on.
In his book, The Gift of Being Yourself, David Benner brilliantly presents how every part of us - even the parts we'd like to change - can be beautifully embraced and seen as God-given. This book is short, but packed full of hearty information that challenges the reader to re-examine how we view and appreciate ourselves in ways we've not done before.
Benner also discusses the Enneagram, a spiritual personality test that presents 9 different types of personalities. The Enneagram breaks down personalities into Type 1 through 9, in which a person may be a Perfectionist, Helper, Observer, Protector, Peacemaker, etc. By learning your Enneagram style, it can help you embrace the characteristics that are strong, but also those that are "weaker" too.
I highly recommend reading this book. It's short afternoon read that I guarantee will be full of highlights. Buy a copy of The Gift of Being Yourself today!
