Blessings From Our Fathers by Tammy McCord

Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful men out there who are honorably called "dad." It's extremely easy for me to think of the blessings my father left me during the time I had with him. One blessing in particular has been life-changing and deeply impactful:

Faith in Christ

My dad had an extremely strong faith in Jesus all of my life. He led singing at our small church for as long as I can remember. I have fond memories of him walking around our house either singing or humming a hymn in preparation for Sundays.

In the mornings I could find my dad at the kitchen table with a glass of hot tea, an apple, and his Bible. Seeing him read scripture was as common as seeing him watch television. If something distressing was going on in our life or someone else's, it wasn't uncommon for me to hear my dad loudly praying to God and asking for help.

Seeing this example in my dad has led me to a loving, intimate relationship with Jesus. I see how reading God's Word is crucial in my daily life and I love doing bible studies. Prayer is a very important part of my life and I look forward to my talks with God and have seen first-hand the power of that prayer. Music is part of my daily routine and I enjoy using it as a powerful way of praising and worshiping God.

Even though my father has passed away, his model of faith never will. It is deeply rooted and grounded. For that I am blessed.
