I chose this song by Brandon Heath, because it talks about Love as not only a feeling, but as an entity. I love that concept. This song makes you think of love not only as an emotion, but also as a verb: "Love Never Fails You" by Brandon Heath
Love is not proud Love does not boast Love after all Matters the most
Love does not run Love does not hide Love does not keep Locked inside
Love is the river that flows through Love never fails you
Love will sustain Love will provide Love will not cease At the end of time
Love will protect Love always hopes Love still believes When you don’t
Love is the arms that are holding you Love never fails you
When my heart won’t make a sound When I can’t turn back around When the sky is falling down Nothing is greater than this Greater than this
Love is right here Love is alive Love is the way The truth the life
Love is the river than flows through Love is the arms that are holding you Love is the place you will fly to Love never fails you
I like how this song points out how love doesn't boast & isn't prideful. I think sometimes in relationships we get too caught up in keeping score and being in competition with one another....that can only lead to disaster. It also says "Love does not run, hide or keep locked inside". It's a great reminder how secrets & keeping our feelings and opinions to ourselves does not promote healthy, happy relationships. Keeping secrets generally leads to distance and hurt.
"Love always hopes & still believes when you don't". How many times have we been down, depressed or an underdog in life, and just knowing we had someone in our corner to cheer us on, and encourage us made all the difference?! Lastly, what I most love about this song, is how it says "Love is the way, the truth, the life". I like how Brandon Heath has incorporated God into the song, reminding us that God is love.
I hope our blog last week and this week has started more awareness in listening for more healthy songs. I know I have been paying more attention since we started this particular blog topic. Please keep in mind that not every word of these songs are going to be healthy sometimes, but the overall general message is what we're trying to focus on. Thanks for reading!
