The month of November is often a month filled with gratitude... So, this week, Imagine Hope is sharing some of the more unconventional ways we feel gratitude in our lives! When reflecting on the things I feel grateful for, besides the most important things in my life (family, friends and loved ones), I often feel gratitude about:
The ability to enjoy the changing seasons. Yes, Indiana can be a rough place to live during the winter, and a tropical place can be a wonderful vacation destination, but the changing seasons in the midwest are truly magnificent! This fall was absolutely gorgeous, and each day I looked at the colorful landscape around me, I felt gratitude for the colors of the season.
Working in a small business. Many times, we take for granted our ability and freedoms in this country to work in, or start, a small business. Many countries would consider this a luxury or a priviledge. I certainly feel gratitude for the company that is so near and dear to my heart.
Modern day conveniences. One of my favorite things is to listen to my grandmother tell stories about when she was growing up. She lived in a rural area, that was not privy to electricity or running water when she was a young girl. She did not have a car until she was in her late teens or early twenties, and everything that was cooked was from their farm and made from scratch. I marvel at her stories and love to listen to her talk about how different life is today with cell phones, computers, easy access to vehicles and foods that are easy to prepare. While I often wish I could experience the simplicity of life without all of the distractions, it certainly would make things more difficult and would take more time from the day without our conveniences of this era.
What things are you grateful for? Did any of this week's blog ideas spark gratitude for you? We sure hope so! We are grateful that you were able to join us!
