Do you know what drives you? Are you aware of the motives that guide your decision making everyday? Sometimes it's healthy, but many times it's not.
This week we are going over the 5 most common things that drive people according to Rick Warren in "Purpose Driven Life".
1. Is Guilt Driving You?
Life can be messy. We make mistakes. We have regrets. Sometimes these mistakes and regrets are haunting.
When guilt drives you, you are often living in shame of your past. These thinkers replay moments in their head with a woulda, coulda, shoulda mindset. The underlying mindset is that because you have failed before, you will be and are a failure. This mindset seeps into how you think, how you see yourself, and how you believe others look at you. This leads to sabotaging possible successes because internally you believe you will fail, so you subconsciously create it to be true.
Being driven by guilt can lead to a life of beating up on yourself, feelings of unworthiness, and a lack of self- forgiveness.
People driven by guilt have trouble seeing hope in fresh starts. God shows us over and over throughout the Bible that He can break you free from the past when you allow Him to take over your life. Forgiveness is possible. A new life and start is an option. God's love and forgiveness has covered all the pain, mistakes, and regrets of the past! You no longer need to be imprisoned by your past!
Keep reading tomorrow as we look at how anger and resentment can drive you!
