When I think of self-care, I get a smile on my face because they're things I do for myself that says, "Tammy, I love you and you deserve this!". Here are my top 3 favorite things I like to do to take care of myself.
1. Take a bubble bath. There's just something about a bath that feels relaxing and pampering. I like to grab a book, light some candles, and escape from the world for 45 minutes. I ditch the phone, shut the door, and I'm just by myself to relax and rejuvenate.
2. Take 1-2 hours and go to a coffee house and catch up on reading or writing. I enjoy reading, but finding the time isn't always there, (or I don't always make the time). For me to go to a coffee house and carve out a chunk of time to read or write is nurturing for me. Although it may be considered "work" to read a self-help book, it's enjoyable work for me. And, it's creative for me (as creative as I'll ever get!). And, I get to enjoy some chai and maybe even a pastry. Mmmm.
3. Get a manicure or pedicure. This one costs money, but it's so nice when I allow someone else to pamper me. It's something that I'm able to do that allows me to feel pretty. It's something that I do to make myself feel special, and looking at my hands and feet are a reminder that I am special and care for myself.
Most of mine (except for one) don't cost any money, and don't have to take up any long length of time. Whether you have all day, or whether you have a half-hour, you can love yourself.
