Ahhh, healthy relationships. It's what we all strive for, right? Let's talk about the next 2 essential ingredients:
Ingredient #3: Compassion
Do I have a genuine, serious concern for the things that cause my significant other concern? Do I ask questions about it? Do I have a desire to know more? Do I ask them why they are concerned and really listen when they share? Do I seek to understand?
Ingredient #4: Communication
Can we talk freely about things that are important in our relationship? Do we know how to talk so we are each understood and so closeness and intimacy are created because of the sharing? Do we feel comfortable sharing what is on our hearts and minds without fear of the other laughing at us, getting angry at us, or using it against us in the future?
Compassion and Communication are very important in creating a safe & healthy relationship - whether that relationship is with a spouse, friend, family member, etc...
As you read all the Essential Ingredients this week, try to pick out 1 or 2 that you'll focus on improving in the coming weeks in your relationships. We'd love to hear how it goes!
