Teri's 2010 Book Recommendation

Happy New Year! Imagine Hope wishes each of you a good start to a new year. Here at our practice we often recommend books to help aid the recovery process for our clients. As therapists we pride ourselves on walking the walk that we help guide our clients on. Part of this is reading books and allowing it to have an impact on our lives. This week each therapist will share with you a book that has had a significant impact on our lives with the hopes that you will read it to start 2010 off right! Teri's Book Recommendation: Boundaries by Henry Cloud and John Townsend

Believe it or not, I read this book for the first time when I was 14! It was recommended to me when I was talking to a trusted adult about some family struggles I was having. This book helps you see the value in setting limits in your relationships without feeling guilty. I learned that saying "No" was ok and that I didn't have to be a victim in my relationships. This faith based book helps you shed the belief that being a "good christian" means you have to sacrifice yourself and be taken advantage of in relationships.  Setting boundaries with people is a vital part of loving yourself and it teaches people how to have a healthy relationship with you. In 2010 I hope each of you are able to set boundaries in all your relationships whether its as a spouse, parent, friend, or family member. Happy reading!
